HUNTLEY – My Huntley News reached out to Village Trustees and Sun City residents Ronda Goldman and Harry Leopold to see if they had received any additional comments about the Regency Square project.
Goldman replied, “I have received some emails, sent to my government account, which say roughly the same thing: “NO”, to the proposed Regency Square Development due to its size, number of rentals, enter and exit points, and rezoning from the original intent of that area. Some have done background searches on the developer and have cited all of the negative history associated with Lynd across the country including in Woodstock.
Leopold’s response was, “I drove over to Tulip Tree Lane, in Sun City Neighborhood 7, and was amazed that the dense tree screening planted 20 years ago, when the property was originally zoned commercial, was 25 to 30 feet high and very dense. I stopped several times and the only view I had was of the Deer Park building that has been there over 10 years.” He continued, “There will be nearly 50% of the property left open for general parklike space.”
He pointed out that “The ratio of multi-family to single family is less than 50% of the level suggested by Urban Planners. An increase in Equalized Assessed Value (EAV), which helps keep our taxes down, is consistent with us being a welcoming Village to new residents and finally we will receive a greater percentage of State shared revenue funds because of the development.”
Leopold concluded, “Finally, both an economic impact and traffic study will be ordered.”
