HUNTLEY – Panera Bread has submitted a new conceptual plan for a 3,480 square foot restaurant, with a drive through lane, located on the southeast the corner of Route 47 and Kreutzer Road. The permits for the previously approved plans had expired and Panera is required to reapply for permission to build.
Charles Nordman, Director of Development Services, presented the new plans for conceptual review by the Village Board at the May 12 board meeting.
“The site plan proposes parking for 76 vehicles and the future construction of a 1,890 square foot standalone retail building on the site,” he said.
“Access to the site will be provided by a driveway shared with AutoZone” stated Nordman. He added that “Panera has stated that it is their intention to build and open by the end of the year.”
Trustee Leopold commented, “The number one issue I get hammered on is ‘when is Panera coming’ and ‘I’m getting sick of it.’”
Trustee Westberg added, “I’ll believe it when I see a shovel in the ground.”
Mayor Hoeft said, “I’m glad that we’ve got something solid. I’ll be glad to have you open by the end of the year.”
