HUNTLEY – Lennar builders submitted a proposal, at the May 12 Village Board meeting, to develop the 63 acres located at the west end of Reed Road as the location of 129 new single-family homes. Accord to Charles Nordman, Village Director of Development Services, reported that “there are seven different floor plans being offered. These are the same homes offered in other sections of Talamore.”
He described the location as “extending from the end of Reed Road southwest to the Chicago-Northwestern railroad tracks.”
Nordman continued, “the developer has requested a conceptual review of the proposed plans by the Board.”
In addition, the property will need to be rezoned from manufacturing to residential.
Trustee Leopold asked about “an extension of Reed Road to the end of the project area.” Dave Johnson, Village Manager, commented that “the Village has had discussions with the other property owner and that preliminary engineering has been completed.”
Trustee Holzkopf asked about the possible extension of Algonquin Road and “the possible need for a bridge over the tracks.”
Mayor Hoeft thanked John McFarland, the Lennar representative, “for continuing to build in Huntley.”
Since this was a conceptual review, no Board action was taken. The plans must be submitted to the Village Planning commission for approval before proceeding further.
