Sun City resident John Silva loves hats.
He collects all kinds. In fact, Silva has been collecting hats from different parts of the world for years.
Silva said, “I have a large collection of interesting hats and wigs including King Tut, Andy Frain, FBI, Alcatraz, Russian, Egyptian, an afro and a silver wig, and many more. When guests come to visit, I invite them to try on hats that they like, and I take their pictures with the hats they chose.”
Silva displays a variety of hats on shelves. There are magical hats, the Sorting Hat from Harry Potter, a witch’s hat, and of course, Merlin’s hat.
There are hats from trips around the world. A Chinese straw hat, a fez, a hat from Hawaii, a beer hat from Oktoberfest, and even an Alcatraz prisoner’s hat.
There are also silly headpieces.
Fez said, “I have a chicken hat and a Huskey hat. That’s the grandkids’ favorite.”
Silva has an Indiana Jones hat, New Year’s Eve hat, and even a Cat in the Hat hat.
Silva said, “I also like hats that have stories attached to them. Every hat here has a story and a meaning.”
