The post-coronavirus pandemic time has seen an increase in entrepreneurial activity. A record 5.4 million applications were filed to form new businesses in 2021 based on data from the U.S. Census Bureau’s Business Formation Statistics; the biggest increase in the last ten years. QuickBooks projects “As many as 17 million new small businesses could be set up in 2022.”
One of those new entrepreneurs resides here in Sun City, Sandra Miller. She was inspired and encouraged by family to use her talents and skills and start her own business. Miller offers color consulting.
Miller said, “I was helping a lot of friends in the past few years, giving them advice and helping them choose the right colors for their rooms. I have a passion for interior design. I have followed design trends since I was 12. So, when my friends suggested starting a business; I thought, ‘why not?’, I know how to do this.”
Miller launched her new business, Memorable Moods, LLC, serving McHenry and most of Kane counties. It is a color consulting firm for homeowners and businesses to turn to when they need interior and exterior color and redesign advice.
Miller said, “Color selection is not a one-size-fits-all solution. Color has an impact on human emotions and behavior. It’s extremely important to consider the design of homes where you spend an enormous portion of your lives.”
What are her qualifications?
Miller said, “I have the background, the credentials, and experience. I have personally moved twenty-five times. I have lived all over the country and in Europe. I had a lot of opportunities to learn from my mistakes. I have earned certificates in Professional Interior Design and Color Consulting, and have a degree in Business Management, plus an abundance of professional and personal experiences to draw from. My dream became a reality during a life stage when many are contemplating retirement.”
Miller’s services offer personalized color palettes with oversized paint samples and wallpaper selections, refresh and redesign advice, a list of vetted trade pros, timeline planning, and related value-added expertise.
Miller said. “After all, one’s home is a valuable asset, and the place where memories are made.”
What has been her favorite project so far?
Miller said, “A young couple was doing a complete renovation. They could not agree on vanity. They both had their favorite choice, I considered their choices, and looking at the furnishings, I offered an alternative. They both loved the selection. I enjoyed giving them something they were both happy with.”
Miller states that Memorable Moods’ mission is to minimize your stress and maximize your time, energy, and savings.
Miller said, “I work with what the client wants to keep and offer ways to transform a few rooms or an entire home, beginning with color, to reflect their own personality and lifestyle.”
