Over the past several months it’s become even more obvious how important voting can be to maintain our democracy. That is why the upcoming election for the County Clerk is crucial.
The Clerk is responsible for efficient and unbiased elections. If done right, the Clerk will make sure voters are notified where to vote, avoid ballot errors, promote voting by making polling locations easily accessible and consistent, and avoid constantly moving or closing polling places unnecessarily.
Unfortunately, the present County Clerk of McHenry County has not effectively provided these services. Ballot errors have occurred every election, polling places have not been identified correctly which is confusing to voters. Additionally, some polling places have been unnecessarily closed or moved long distances making it more difficult for voters in this county to be able to vote.
McHenry County deserves better! This is why I’m encouraging you to learn more about the past problems we have had with elections, then choose a candidate who can professionally oversee our elections to avoid these problems. Fortunately, we have a candidate running this year who has the skills and experience to restore trust in our election process. That person is Mary Mahady. Reproductive Health Care?
In contentious issues, partisans often create slogans intended to put their position in a favorable light. One that has gained much currency is âreproductive health careâ as a synonym for abortion access.
To my mind, reproductive health care is when the pregnant woman is cautioned to not smoke or drink and also to get some exercise. Her doctor will likely encourage her to eat a good diet with a list of what to include or avoid. If a medical problem develops, he will provide appropriate medical intervention. He will schedule office visits to monitor the status of this womanâs reproductive progress. The goal of all this reproductive health care is to have a healthy baby delivered at full term.
People who say âreproductive health careâ when they are actually talking about abortion mean none of the above. Their goal is to ensure access to abortion so that the baby can be terminated. Talk about twisting the language.

The article written by Peter Prainito in the Daily Herald titled a president to believe in is a beautifully written assortment of demagoguery talking points, albeit, none are supported by facts.
President Biden did complete the withdrawal of our troops in Afghanistan, but he ignored the advice of military professionals in order to simply accomplish a pre-election promise. This hap-hazard withdrawal caused thousands of our Afghani allies to be abandoned to be butchered by the Taliban while leaving tens of billions of dollars of high-end military equipment behind to re-equip Taliban terrorists.
The author eludes sarcastically to the unfinished âGreat wall of Trumpâ, which Biden, halted immediately allowing tens of millions of dollars of paid for material to sit and rust. Biden overturned Trumpâs agreement with Mexico to keep all illegal aliens in Mexico while waiting for statis hearings. This has caused some 4 million illegal immigrants to enter the United States of which only 10 percent are shown to attend their hearings. This number does not include roughly 80,000 individuals termed âgot-a-waysâ that have entered the U S illegally and have not been processed by the border patrol. These nationalities, as well as their countries of origin are unknown. Remember 9/11?
He stated unequivocally, Biden has no control over gas prices. Biden has taken the U S in 2 years from oil independency and world leading oil exportation to relying on adversaries of the U S for oil such as Saudi Arabia, Russia, Iran. Remember the Keystone Pipeline?
Crime. Bidenâs vice president collected money used to bond out Black Lives Matter and antifa rioters after their arrests for burning police stations, attacking federal government buildings, burning a church and battering police offices. How soon we forget!
Mr. Prainito states that Biden has no control over inflation. Inflation was at 2 percent during the Trump administration. It is now at a level last seen during Jimmy Carterâs days forty years ago.
He further states of the âsignificantâ accomplishments of Biden cannot name a single accomplishment. I submit the inexcusable relief of 10-20 thousands of dollars those who reneged on their college student loans, now being paid for by hard working taxpayers who couldnât afford college themselves.
He complains that the GOP has blocked Bidenâs agenda all while the Democratic Party controls the White House and the Senate and the House.
He finishes with âWhat did the last administration accomplish?â Answer, oil independency for the first time in U S history, 2 percent inflation, legal immigration, historical lows in unemployment for women, blacks and Hispanics, historical highs in overall employment, a thriving stock market, the strongest military in the world, etcetera…
Joe Biden, a professional politician… a president to believe in?
