At the October 13 Village Board Meeting the Board took the necessary governmental steps forward that will lead to the new Water Well #13 and the accompanying Water Treatment Plant.
According to Timothy Farrell, Village Director of Public Works, “the new well and treatment plant will be located roughly 1,000 feet east and 200 feet north of the current terminus of Regency Parkway.”
Farrell indicated that “engineering is currently underway and Requests for Bids should be issued in November.” He continued, “we hope to award the contract shortly after the first of the year with drilling beginning sometime in the Spring of 2023.”
Farrell estimated that “the well will be in the neighborhood of 1,300 feet deep.”
The water treatment plant and pumping station will go through a separate engineering, bidding and construction process. Expectations are that all will go on-line by the end of 2024.
“The new treatment plant will be identical to the existing plant that is on Kreutzer at Haligus,” added Farrell.
“The plan is for the treatment plant to connect to a water main near the Huntley Springs Retirement Resort at the far east end of Powers Road. That water main runs north and connects to another water main east of Wal-Mart,” Farrell added.
The total estimated cost of the project, which includes engineering, land acquisition, construction and drilling is $8.4 million. Federal funds are expected to contribute $3.7 million. A Village Bond issue is projected to generate another $3 million with the balance eventually coming from on-going utility bills.
