HUNTLEY — The Duke Realty Corporation requested approval by the Village Planning Commission for a 40,000 square foot industrial building located at the Southwest corner of Freeman Road and Weber Drive. The location is adjacent to the Weber Global Distribution facility.
This location is Lot 2 of the property already owned by the Duke Realty Corporation. Permission was given to Duke Realty in February, 2022, for the construction of a 100,000 square foot industrial building at the southeast end of Weber Drive. This new building will have the same appearance features as the 100,000 building.
The new building will house up to four tenants when completed. The property will have extensive parking for both employee vehicles and tracker-trailers. The Planning Commission did ask about the lack of a refueling station for any tenant trucks. The response was that since tenant needs were not yet identified, that the addition of a refueling station would require Duke to return to the commission for approval of such an installation.
The construction is being done on a speculative basis since no tenants have been secured. The commission did approve the request, with the slight modification of not allowing parking on Weber Drive. The request must next go to the Village Board for consideration and approvals.
