Last June, Russ Becker was featured for his Castle made of pennies. Talking about the project gave Becker the bug to keep building. He took out his stash of pennies and started to build again. He started on August 11, 2022, and completed a scale model of the Lincoln Memorial on September 16, 2022.
Becker said, “It took 8129 pennies to make the memorial. It weighs 50 pounds and 12 ounces.”
The Lincoln Memorial’s architectural details are evident around the building’s exterior and interior.
Becker said, “Above the colonnade, just as inscribed on the frieze of the original, are the names of the 36 states in the Union at the time of Lincoln’s death and the dates on which they entered the Union. Above this, there are the names of the 48 states are inscribed which were part of the USA at the time of the Memorial’s dedication.”
When asked if he any other building projects planned, his reply drew intrigue.
Becker said, “Yes, but it is top secret.”
