Diane Flanagan’s granddaughter, Erin Flanagan, and her husband Aljosha (Josh} Konstanty, often visit from Kassel, Germany. Erin met her husband while in Germany for an exchange year. They married on August 20, 2020, during a COVID-19 lockdown, with their family and friends celebrating their nuptials over Zoom.
Josh, or Aljosha Konstanty, is known professionally as AK. Josh is a music composer and songwriter and has previous successes. He primarily releases his music independently, without a label.
This has led to multiple successes.
Josh said, of his hits, that one song “is called ‘Wanderlust.’ It was released in 2017, and it went viral.”
The song Wanderlust is from his “Discovery” Extended Play (EP), with HD visuals accompanying every track. Electronic music is a genre that engages a mixture of electronic musical instruments and digital instruments in its conception.
How does electronic instrumental music work?
Josh said, “I use a digital audio workstation (DAW) such as Ableton Live to compose, record, and arrange his music. I have released music across various genres, including downtempo, house, and ambient.”
On March 24, 2023, Lana Del Rey released a new album, Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd, while Josh and Erin were staying here in Sun City. That album had one of Josh’s songs, “Fishtail.”
How did “Fishtail” get on Lana del Rey’s album?
Josh said, “Lana’s manager reached out to me around September 2022 about Lana having used the chords and asked me if I’d be okay with them using the composition.”
Erin said, “We were so thrilled the day it came out. I started hunting for it in the local stores. Walmart was sold out. I went to Target in Crystal Lake to look for it. There was a display, but it was gone. There are five editions of the album. The artwork in each is different. It is available on CD, cassette tape, vinyl, and everywhere online.”
As of April 10, Lana Del Rey’s Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 with 115,000 equivalent album units, with vinyl making up 58,500 units — the best vinyl sales week of the year so far and best of her career.
Diane said, “I was playing tennis the day it was released and was so excited to share the news that my grandson-in-law was on this new album. I was thrilled that they were familiar with the artist Lana del Rey. I was so proud and excited. Lana del Rey is a Headliner for Lollapalooza here in Chicago on August 3-6. We hope Josh’s song will be heard in our own Grant Park.”
