For Sun City resident Nedra Reeves, the hills are alive with the sound of Christmas this year.
Reading about book clubs online, she came across clear ornaments filled with miniatures of books. She started making a unique ornament for her granddaughter to commemorate her role in Sun City’s production of The Sound of Music.
Reeves said, “My granddaughter, Elise, earned the role of ‘Marta’ in The Sound of Music production here at Sun City, which took place this fall. This was quite a commitment for her and her family, as they live in South Beloit, 45 minutes from Del Webb. She loved the entire experience: memorizing her lines, singing songs she had never heard, figuring out choreography, and being an integral part of a professional production with five sold-out shows. I am so proud of her. I wanted to commemorate her experience by making an ornament filled with photos from rehearsals and the final productions.”
Reeves got busy and started printing tiny photos of Elise.
“Elise’s ornament has over 50 photos taken by me, her parents, or Debbie Orlando, the official photographer of the Theater Company at Sun City Huntley. Not to leave out my other five grandchildren, I have been making each of them an ornament filled with pictures of the fun they have had in 2023. The project has been a labor of love, and I hope they will cherish them forever.”
