It came to our immediate attention that many readers misunderstood a notice in the January 25 edition about My Huntley News switching to a subscription-based news service.
Before I can continue, I need to clarify that White Silo Media, which is the parent company that owns My Sun Day News, owns two publications: My Sun Day News and My Huntley News.
MY SUN DAY NEWS (or MSDN) is the print and online newspaper you’re reading right now. It covers the community of Sun City in Huntley and has been around for just shy of 14 years.
MY HUNTLEY NEWS (or MHN) is an ONLINE ONLY news publication that covers the entire Village of Huntley and surrounding area. They are NOT the same thing.
My Sun Day News is a biweekly print publication that arrives in your mailbox every-other Thursday. My Huntley News is daily news publication that publishes at myhuntleynews.com. It is My Huntley News that is switching to a subscription-based news platform. As with this February 8 edition, you will continue to receive My Sun Day News FREE in your mailbox every-other Thursday.
Newspapers, even ones so small as MSDN and MHN, cost a lot of money to run. With rising costs and the shape of the media landscape changing, we decided to make My Huntley News a subscription news service in order to offer more informative and more entertaining news to the public at an affordable price of just $50 annually or $30 semi-annually. At $50 a year, it’s less than $1 a week. And for that you’ll get local news about Huntley and the surrounding area you can’t find anywhere else.
We sincerely apologize for the confusing messaging the January 25 edition caused, so if any of you subscribed to My Huntley News, thinking you had to to keep receiving this newspaper, please contact me directly at the following number or email, and we’ll issue you a full refund for the error.
Again, our apologies for the confusion. Thank you for your attention and for your continued readership in My Sun Day News. We hope to see, too, over at My Huntley News.
