On My 11, Sun City residents answered the request from the Grafton Food Pantry and the United States Postal Service to help stamp out hunger. Thanks to the hard work of volunteers and postal workers and the generosity of community members, this year’s food drive once again helped fill the shelves of the Grafton Food Pantry.

The May 11 USPS Stamp Out Hunger was a monumental success, resulting in a record-breaking collection of 7846 pounds of essential items for the Grafton Food Pantry. In the face of a challenging economy and rising food prices, this achievement is a testament to the strength and compassion of the community. To facilitate donations, Grafton Food Pantry volunteers went the extra mile, distributing 600 bags door to door in Sun City.

Harriet Ford, President of Grafton Food Pantry, states, “We are so grateful for the generosity of the USPS for conducting this nationwide food drive and the residents of Huntley for participating. Demand is high since we are seeing an increase of over twenty-five percent in clients this year. This food drive has a huge impact on what we can offer local residents in need of assistance. Our managers Gloria Newman and Sandy Domek, both of Sun City, and our tireless volunteers were amazing in making the effort run smoothly.”
