This fall, Sun City’s Pencil and Palette Club is hosting an art gallery exhibit, and you’re invited. The exhibit will feature the work of resident artists.

Carolyn Gordon, the Chairman of the Exhibit, said, “We are featuring the work of our novice through experienced painters.”

The Club has been part of the community for twenty-four years. This is the first time that they will showcase the artistic endeavors of their members at Prairie Lodge. It will take place in the Birch and Cedar rooms on Saturday, September 21, from 1–5 p.m. and Sunday, September 22, from 1–4 p.m. Entry is free, but donations are greatly appreciated to offset gallery expenses.

Linda Wadman, Vice President of the Club, said, “This is a brand new and free event showcasing Pencil and Palette member’s original fine artwork. Come out and see what we are creating in pastel, oil, acrylic, watercolor, pencil, and more. There will be live and recorded classical music, free appetizers, and a cash bar staffed by Jameson’s restaurant.”

Barbara Schramm, President of the Club, said, “We will have over 80 pieces of artwork on display from 35 of our members.”

The artwork is not available for purchase, but there will be an opportunity to win some beautiful hand-painted pieces.

Wadman said, “There will be a ‘Raining Artwork’ raffle. The tickets will be one dollar each or six for $5. Twelve beautiful umbrellas painted by our club members, all featuring a botanical theme, will be raffled. We are grateful for the sponsorship from the Oaks of Algonquin and their donation of the umbrellas.”

Schramm said, “We invite all Sun City residents who have a desire or passion to develop their creativity to join the Club. We offer opportunities for all levels of skills and various media. We offer shared learning experiences through classes, workshops, and demos.”

Gordon said, “We offer classes and workshops taught by member artists and outside artists. These are offered at all levels, from beginners to advanced.”

The Club’s website invites residents to discover, understand, and appreciate the artist within. Anyone interested in more information can stop by the art room. Visit the Pencil and Palette website located on the Sun City website, or call Barbara Schramm at 847-436-0780.
