Remembering our fallen heroes

By My Sunday News

Editor’s Note: We ordinarily do not allow anonymous content published in MSDN. However, the creator of this memorial wished to remain anonymous to keep the focus entirely on those fallen firefighters of 9/11. We granted him this request.

September 11 is a day that Americans across the country reflect on the attacks that stunned the world. It’s a day that unites us in remembrance and reflection as we recall where we were when we heard the news of the planes hitting the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center. A Sun City Resident, a Chicago firefighter, and twenty fellow firefighters traveled to the site. He will never forget that day. For twenty-three years, he remembers this day by a memorial honoring the 343 Firefighters who died trying to rescue people and fight the fires. It remains the deadliest terrorist attack in history as well as the deadliest incident for firefighters and law enforcement personnel in American history, killing 343 and 72 members, respectively. The memorial has photos of the fallen firefighters. The Sun City resident did not want to be named, asking the focus to honor the heroes of that day.
