On January 27, the Grafton Food Pantry received a generous Sun City Concert Band Charter Club donation. The donation was in the spirit of the Pantry’s Website request for “A Brighter New Year Begins With You. Your donation brings food, supplies, and hope to our community. Together, we can make a difference!”
Rob Lindsay, Sun City Concert Band Board member, said, “We are pleased to be able to make this donation and even more grateful for what the Pantry does for those in need in and around our community. We hope that this $1,000 donation helps.”
Harriet Ford, President of Grafton Food Pantry Board of Directors, said, “This is an incredible donation to begin 2025 for us. Sun City is a community with a big heart. We are so appreciative. As you may remember, every dollar donated provides about $8 in buying power at the food bank. This donation is significant and will contribute greatly to purchasing essential food and personal care items. We served a record number of individuals in 2024, an increase of over twenty percent over 2023. We provided over three-hundred sixty holiday meals at Thanksgiving and Christmas. As a result of the generosity of individuals, Sun City Clubs and neighborhoods, local businesses, churches, and Huntley High School, over eight hundred individuals received holiday gifts. Huntley is an amazing, generous community.”
The mission of the Food Pantry is to “improve the lives of neighbors in need by providing nutritious food and essential personal care items. We are committed to building partnerships to educate and work together to end food insecurity in our community.”
Ford said, “Donations are needed throughout the entire year. Donation boxes are at Blessed Little Kitchen, Brunch Café, Huntley Park District, BMO North, Huntley Library, and Heartland Bank. Please do not place expired, perishable items, cash, gift cards, or checks in boxes. Paper goods and personal care items are always greatly needed.
