Chocolate bunnies, eggs, and jelly beans

Carole Homer, a Sun City resident, delivers treats near and far for each holiday, any celebration, or just for fun. Homer began creating sweet treats in March for the Easter.

Homer said, “I have started molding chocolate treats for Easter. Chocolate bunnies are on sticks; pretzel rods are dipped in chocolate and covered with candy pastel confetti. I have made a small white chocolate basket filled with all edible goodies: chocolate bunnies, eggs, and jelly beans. There are bigger versions of the baskets also.”

There are white chocolate bunnies and pink ears: chocolate-covered Oreo Cookies, and chocolate–covered Nutter Butters.

Homer said, “I haven’t started baking cookies, cakes, and other baked goods. I will be baking lamb cakes and decorating them for the holiday.”

Homer’s unwavering dedication to her craft is a testament to her love for baking that began in 1970.

“I have never thought of going into business,” she said. “It would stop being fun if it were a job. I enjoy learning new techniques. I taught myself. When I started, there was no YouTube or the internet. Currently, I am trying out stenciling edible designs on the cookies and cakes. Everything I make is edible.”

Easter is just one of the holidays for which Homer prepares treats.

“I am constantly trying out recipes, new techniques, or buying new molds,” she said.

Homer’s creativity shines for Thanksgiving as she creates a beautiful chocolate cornucopia filled with homemade goodies. Her repertoire of treats spans various holidays, each a unique and delightful creation, promising a year full of exciting and delicious surprises.

“At Christmas, I create a chocolate house, not gingerbread, decorated with edible embellishments,” she said.

Homer bakes twenty to twenty-five varieties of cookies at Christmas that she shares with family, friends, and neighbors.

“My grandkids get care packages,” she said. “It’s fun to put those goodies together for them.”

In celebration of St. Patrick’s Day and Valentine’s Day, Homer baked themed cupcakes.

“I molded flowers as well as letters spelling out wishes,” Homer said. “I am planning heart-shaped cookies to celebrate Mother’s Day.”
