When the weather gets warm and the umpire says “play ball,” the Sun City Softball Club really gets going.
Fresh off a successful Salute to Veterans patriotic exhibition on June 30, the Club will present its annual all-star game this Saturday, July 14, at 4 p.m. at Eakin Field.
Sun City fans will see the best of the community’s softball talent in a nine-inning game. Participating will be two players from each team in the 16-inch slow pitch evening league, and one player from each of the seven teams in the slow pitch morning league. Each team will select its two all stars.
“Each player will receive an all star hat, and Jameson’s will be there selling beer and wine,” said Glenn Groebli, club president. Just like in a big league stadium, hot dogs, Italian sausage, pop, chips, and water will be available. Donations will be appreciated.
“We will have a raffle of a ladies bike,” Groebli added, “and there will also be a 50-50 raffle.”
The softball club is in mid-season form, (or is it post-season?) with its activities.
