Lupo on probation after sentencing [updated 5/19]

By Stew Cohen

The Kane County Circuit Clerk’s office says Jennifer Lupo is serving two years on probation. The judgment order for the former finance manager of Sun City Huntley staff also called for 20 days in the Kane County Jail. The Circuit Clerk’s office says Lupo was found guilty of theft by deception and her sentencing was December 11, 2019. The criminal court case against Lupo dates back by about four years of court postponements and other delays. The actual court proceeding started in late 2016 after an investigation by Huntley Police and the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office into irregularities and missing Sun City Association funds. In an earlier Sun Day news report dated November 2019, a Kane County judge had ruled that Lupo was to repay more than $29,000 to First Service Residential (FSR), the management company for Sun City employees.

[Update, 5/19/20] Clarification from Deanna Loughran regarding a story titled “Lupo on probation after sentencing” from the May 7 edition of The Sun Day:

“First Service Residential supplies property management services to Sun City. The onsite employees are employed by First Service. The payroll is a bill back to the Association; however, employee liability is maintained by First Service. When the Lupo situation occurred, First Service made the community whole (paid them); therefore the repayment for damages went to First Service.”
