The Sun City Community Association Board of Directors meeting was held on Wednesday, June 24, at 9 a.m. via video conference streamed live on www.sccah.com. The Illinois governor’s Phase 4 guidelines for reopening activities were considered by the board in voting on decisions to resume activities.
In making those decisions, the Board stated, “As always, we assure you our decisions will always be made with the optimum safety of our residents the primary concern.”
Prairie Lodge indoor pool is targeted to open on July 5 for lap swimming, lap walking, and exercise under a reservation process facilitated by management. Reservations can be made starting July 1. Each block of time will be limited to 10 residents. Residents using the pool must arrive and leave in their swimsuits, as locker rooms will not be available.
Meadowview Lodge Fitness Center will open with a target date of July 13. Members will need to make a reservation to work out during one of the four daily time slots, limited to 15 residents.
All Charter Club activities, sponsored events and Room rentals through July and August have been cancelled.
Marilynn Berendt, Board member said, “We did discuss that Eakin Field is open for general play, but not league play nor are we wanting spectators at that time. Charter Clubs are still on hold for ‘in-person’ meetings. Some clubs are using virtual resources. We are still not using the general meeting rooms at the lodge. As you know, this is a fluid environment which we find ourselves in and the Board’s main goal is to be cognizant and proactive in issues with regard to the safety of our residents.”
Dennis McWilliams, President of Tall Oaks Tennis Club said, “The Tennis Board is disappointed by this decision but understands that the SCCAH Board acts to preserve the health & safety of our community during this Covid-19 pandemic. We will continue to work toward resuming the activities we all enjoy in a safe and responsible manner.”
Lou Farinella, President of the Pickleball Club, said, “I and our officers were saddened to hear that our Pickleball Charter Club will not be able to operate as a club and many of our members were also very disappointed. Being an outside activity, we felt it would be fine to operate as a club.”
Dedicated Rooms in Prairie Lodge (Reading room, Sewing Room, Ceramics room, Art Studio) will open soon.
The Board’s decisions were made with the utmost concern for the safety of the residents. They stated that, “As always, we assure you our decisions will always be made with the optimum safety of our residents the primary concern. Thank you for your continued understanding and cooperation as we move forward, together.”
