HUNTLEY – At the May 12 Village Board meeting, Charles Nordman, Director of Development Services for the Village, introduced a request by More Brewery for a conceptual review of their plan to expand their brewery operations and to add a 4-story, 89 guest room hotel on the property south of their existing building.
Nordman reported that “the proposed hotel would operate as a TownePlace Suites by Marriott, which is an extended-stay style hotel.” He continued, “the proposed developments would occupy the remaining land within the inner ring of Automall Drive.”
He also reported that “the 49,650 square foot expansion, toward I-90, south of the existing building, would allow for an increase in beer production, storage and the addition of a distillery. The addition of the distillery would require an amendment to the current C-2 zoning of the property.”
Nordman stated that More Brewery estimates that “the expansion to the brewery and the addition of a distillery would be a $5 million investment. In addition the construction of the hotel is estimated to be a $12 millions investment”
Mayor Hoeft added, “thank you for your interest in expanding and doubling your business here in town.”
As a conceptual review the board did not take any action on the request but did encourage More Brewery to proceed with the project’s plans.
The next step with the project would be a formal presentation to the Planning Commission.
