Sun City resident Pat Bosi excelled in her professional life as an executive in Human Resources at Shell Oil and later as the executive of Operations at AIG Insurance Companies. Now, she finds herself excelling in a sweeter arena.

Bosi, like most mothers, was asked to bring a treat to her child’s class. Bosi said, “At the time Star Wars characters were popular. I decided to make chocolate R2-D2 lollipops.”
Another woman dropping off her nephew at pre-School noticed the cellophane-wrapped treats tied with a ribbon. Bosi said, “She asked if I made them and if I would be interested in making more to sell. After talking about costs and my price, I agreed to have my chocolate pops sold at the Door County Confectionery.”
For over 50 years, the Door County Confectionery has been treating its customers to mouth-watering chocolates and delicious fudge. Bosi’s chocolate lollipops went on sale at Door County Confectionery stores not only in Door County, but also in Chicago and Milwaukee areas.
How long did she offer chocolates at the Confectionery?
Bosi said, “I did it for about seven years. I did it as long as I enjoyed it. I enjoyed creating something fun. At one point, I thought of selling chocolate golf balls and the store orders were overwhelming. It stopped being fun and started being another job, so I stopped. I did enjoy the creativity and having a market that wanted my chocolates. Once, I went into a store and bought one of the chocolate lollipops. I knew it was mine by the ribbon I used. It was a thrill.”
Bosi also bakes.
Bosi said, “Over the years, I have made different cakes. They featured popular characters, sports, scenes, and animals. I have created the three little pigs with the big bad wolf with the straw house, soccer balls, Sesame Street characters, and a piano. I took a picture of each cake.”
What was her favorite?
“I made a basket for a wedding shower. The theme was ‘Fall in Love.’ I weaved in icing the basket, filled in with hundreds of leaves. When I arrived, the attendant came to help me and he thought it was a real basket and grabbed it by the handle. It was a great compliment, but had a disastrous result.”
Bosi learned from others, but has been mostly self-taught.
“I took one Wilton decorating class at Michaels, but I just picked up the skills on my own.”
Bosi is known for her dedication to walking by her neighbors in N26. She covers about 5 miles a day. But soon her neighbors will discover her sweet talent. Bosi wanted to contribute to the neighborhood Christmas party festivities and volunteered to make chocolate Santa Claus pops. Each Santa is hand-painted using colored chocolate.
Bosi said, “I start with the blue eyes, pink cheeks, and detail each face. I found it therapeutic.”
This is a talent that appears to run in the family.
Bosi said, “My granddaughter, Callie is 10, and loves to come over and make lollipops, cake pops, cupcakes, or cookies. Recently she announced one morning. We’re making crepes and we did.”
