Sun City Club Crawl makes debut

By Christine Such

Club Crawl is a new event for Sun City residents and an opportunity to learn about Sun City Charter Clubs. On Thursday, April 17, from 4-6 p.m. at Prairie Lodge in the Drendel Ballroom, the first hundred residents to arrive will receive a coupon for a free Culvers scoop of custard. The event is free, no registration is required, and all Sun City residents are invited.

Ben Manibog, Chair of the Charter Club Presidents Council (CCPC) and President of the RV Travelers Club said, “I believe there are several things we are doing to make this a special event for our community. Club Crawl is the first Sun City community-wide event solely organized by a subcommittee of the CCPC, backed by the team at First Services Residential, and supported by our Board Liaison Bill Niemasz.”

The subcommittee consists of Ben Manibog, Pam White, Amy Sanecki, Paulette Carrion, Linda Benigno, Lynne Shkolnik, Irene Camp, Nancy Cihlar, and Pam Prissel.

Manibog said, “The subcommittee was very excited when the opportunity to run and organize a community and charter club event became a reality. From working on a name and logo to identify the event to advertising on multiple platforms to get the word out, to creating excitement within our president’s council to encourage their membership to participate and embrace the event, to an opportunity to give back to the community through fundraising and partnering with local businesses, it has been a team effort to bring the vision of an event to an exciting reality that will benefit our whole Sun City community.”

Manibog said the event was “organized to bring our Sun City residents out of the doldrums of winter and into spring with a social event. It will be a fun and different way to interact with one another and the Charter Clubs, all in one room and under one roof. Get ready for a great time. This is not just an event, it’s a celebration of our community and the coming of spring.”

There will be a 50/50 raffle for residents to participate in and support local charitable organizations: Veterans Path To Hope, Senior Care Volunteer Network, and Home of the Sparrow. Raffle tickets are available for $1, 6 for $5, or 12 for $10. During the two-hour event, there will be six drawings for gift cards from Aldi’s and Jameson’s at regular intervals, leading up to the Lucky #7 drawing for the 50/50 grand prize around 5:45 pm. Tickets drawn for the preliminary prizes will still be eligible for the grand prize. Winners need not be present.

Manibog said, “We will have notable personnel pulling the winning tickets from the drum. The representatives from the three charitable organizations will each have an expo table at the event. Additionally, each will have 3-4 minutes on stage to briefly talk about their organization and what people can do to help their cause. There will be a montage of pictures from each club playing overhead during the event, and there may be a surprise or two to keep attendees engaged.”

Save the date, April 17, and join the fun.
