Get InQuicker

By My Sunday News

ELGIN – Provena Saint Joseph Hospital, Elgin and Provena Acute Care, Lake in the Hills, launched InQuicker.com an online check-in service for ER care designed to increase patient convenience and satisfaction. InQuicker.com, available only at Provena Saint Joseph Hospital and Acute Care facilities in the area, allows users with non-life threatening conditions to check wait times and hold their place in line, online while resting comfortable at home.

A user clicks on InQuicker.com to find projected treatment times at Provena Saint Joseph Hospital Emergency Department or Provena Acute Care. After providing some demographic and symptom information, the user registers online, schedules a treatment time, and is added to the emergency department or acute care facility queue to begin holding their place in line, online. The user can wait comfortably at home instead of in the waiting room. Upon arrival, caregivers are committed to providing prompt care within 15 minutes of projected treatment times.

According to Vice President for Patient Care Services, Lisa DiMarco, RN, MBA, NEA-BC, FACHE, Provena Saint Joseph Hospital launched this program during a busy holiday season acknowledging increased demands on patients’ time.

“InQuicker, used for non life threatening care, simply re-invents the way we wait for care,” she said, “We respect today’s busy lifestyles and want to make it easier for our patients to access quality care when needed.”

The InQuicker system estimates treatment times based on patient traffic conditions and allows its users to wait in line from home instead of in the waiting room. In the event of a projected treatment time delay due to a sudden influx from an accident, InQuicker users are sent real-time notifications via phone call and email so they can continue waiting at home or re-schedule a treatment time.

InQuicker is intended only for individuals with non-life and non-limb threatening medical conditions. If you’re in doubt about the severity of your condition, you should always seek immediate care.

In fact, the InQuicker system is designed to filter certain symptom keywords that may indicate a life or limb threatening medical condition in addition to a review of symptoms by a health care professional in the emergency department. Those indicating a life or limb-threatening medical condition are prompted to dial 911 or go immediately to the nearest emergency room.

Since, 2007, more than 12,000 people nationwide have used InQuicker.com and customer surveys indicate 9 out of 10 recommend it to others because:

— Users easily register and hold their place in line, online for non-life threatening conditions.

— Users wait comfortably at home.

— Users learn in real time of ER delays due to any unforeseen influx of emergency patients.

— Users who indicate life threatening symptoms are filtered out of system and prompted to dial 911 or go immediately to the nearest ER.
