Side effects of statin drugs

By Norma Thompson

Taking statin drugs not only deprives your body of beneficial cholesterol for important body functions but plays havoc with numerous painful, debilitating side effects:

First, there may be polyneuropathy which is nerve damage causing pain in hands or feet or both. There may be trouble walking; what is called a statin shuffle with slow, wobbly movements. With this there may be balance problems. It is not uncommon for dizziness to be present.

Heel spurs and calf pain have been documented with muscle damage and inflammation of tendons and ligaments sometimes leading to rupture.

There has been difficulty in fine motor skills, making writing extremely difficult.

Severe fatigue, yet restless sleep is a side effect.

Slurred speech may also become a problem.

A person may become depressed, have emotional problems leading to violent and aggressive behavior and in some cases may end in suicide.

There may be problems with memory.

Digestive upsets have been reported.

Cataracts can be a symptom.

Type 2 diabetes can be an outcome.

Decreased immune system leading to cancer

Have you noted that all of the pharmaceutical ads on T.V. list numerous side effects? Many doctors are seeing the light and turning to alternative methods. Dr. Joseph Mercola is one of these M.D.s and you will find him on the web. There are lifestyle changes that can lower your need for drugs. Why not come to class and find out? We will meet on Wednesday mornings through the beginning of October.
