Huntley Community Radio was recently approved by the FCC to become an FM station — WHRU LP FM 101.5. In order to make this happen by the end of 2014, we need to raise $45,000 for studies, equipment, and equipment installation.
If you are not familiar with the current programming that is broadcast on huntleyradio.com, the shows include local hosts who are residents, business owners, teachers, parents, and grandparents, as well as students from Marlowe Middle School, Huntley High School, and McHenry County College.
This summer, the station is adding classes through the Huntley Park District for kids wanting to learn how to start their own on-air show.
One of the goals of Huntley Community Radio is to keep area residents informed and connected. Once on FM radio, the station will be capable of helping every resident in Huntley, and parts of Lake in the Hills, Algonquin, and Gilberts.
On Saturday, June 28, we will host our First Annual Grand Benefit Auction to raise funds for the station. The event will be held from 5:30–8 p.m. at the Cosman Center Theater in Huntley. The event, with complimentary admission, will include a live auction, silent auction, live entertainment, and refreshments
We are looking for silent auction items to be donated for this event. In addition to getting great exposure for your item or product you will be helping support this great cause.
