August 8 marks the 14th anniversary of the annual National Night Out that Sun City will be participating in with the help of the Neighborhood Watch and Neighbors Helping Neighbors.
National Night Out is a nationwide event that is open to the public and is hosted by the National Association of Town Watch that promotes safety within the community and a healthy partnership between the local police.
The NW and NHN committees teamed up with the Huntley Police and Huntley Fire Department, and Sun City, to actively promote their cause within the community.
From the sponsorship of the local NW And NHN and other local businesses and organizations such as Heartland Blood of Huntley, Sun City will help host activities that are open to all ages. Music and entertainment will be available. Food and beverages will also be served as a donation from Sara Mitchell Reality at 4:30, and ice cream bars will also be available through donations from The Knights of Columbus of Saint Mary’s Parish.
This year, Sun City will also be hosting baseball game at Eakin Field at 3:30pm that will last six innings. The game will be played by the Huntley Police and Fire Department first responders.
Joan McClellan, Phyllis James, and Bob Gienko helped organize the event and put the fundraiser in motion.
The NW and NHN are also always looking for volunteers and sponsors. If interested, donors and volunteers can contact Committee President Jim Uszler at 224-392-3140. Organizations and townships looking to participate in the National Night Out can also registration and become member of the National Association of Town Watch at natw.org.
