German physician Otto Warburg was awarded a Nobel prize over 80 years ago for first uncovering cancer cells massive dependence on sugar as a fuel source. Even if we could say that sugar may or may not be involved with the development of cancer, once it takes over, sugar keeps it going much like pouring gasoline on a raging fire.
In addition to sugar being high on the glycemic index, it is completely void of nutrition, having had all of its vitamins, minerals, and fiber removed. We do better caring for our automobiles, making sure they get good fuel and oil than we do our bodies.
The classic #1 health bestseller that exploded the sugar myth and inspired a health revolution is “Sugar Blues” by William Dufty (1975). In “Sugar Blues,” Dufty says sugar is poison, more lethal than opium, and more dangerous than atomic fallout.
We just completed a series on healthy fat loss and studied how detrimental sugars and grains are keeping us from attaining our goals. Starting this week, we will look at side effects experienced from consuming sugar, physical and mental ways it harms the body, and major illnesses often leading to disability and death.
And God said, “See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food.” Genesis 1:29
Insulin is known as the master hormone of human metabolism and is produced by the pancreas. It affects every cell in the human body and without it one would die. When one eats carbohydrates, which include sugar, high fructose corn syrup, and grains, glucose is released into the bloodstream.
The government pyramid looks at groups of food based on the amount of carbohydrates, protein, fat, and number of calories in a serving, which is often called an exchange. For years it has been called the Standard American Diet. As we said back in the first session, every diet has used some part of the pyramid to make its own program. The pyramid has been divided into five groups:
Many unclear claims are made in advertising. An example would be “cheerios are good for lowering cholesterol.”
The whole concept of dieting is wrong. It implies going on some kind of restrictive menu plan, usually low in calories and fat, remaining on it until one loses a specified number of pounds on the scales, reaching ideal weight, getting tired or bored with the diet or chomping at the bit for all the forbidden goodies.
The holidays are now over and many are fighting unwanted pounds, clothes that don’t fit, and New Year’s resolutions that include dieting. The word “diet” is a set course of eating and drinking in which the kinds and amounts of food one should eat are planned in order to achieve weight loss.
Before we end our discussion on fats, we need to include another tropical oil with benefits. Used primarily in Southeast Asia and West Africa, palm oil is the main source of dietary fat for millions of people and as much a part of their diet as olive oil is in the Mediterranean.
We have talked about the importance of fats for the inside of the body, but we need to think of the skin. The skin is the largest and thinnest organ in the body. Only 1/10 inch separates you from toxins.
Coconut oil is hard like Crisco at room temperatures under 76 degrees. At higher temperatures, it starts to turn liquid. I have had shipments where, if the package has been in the sun, the bottle is completely liquid.
The information below was compiled through personal study and the book “Coconut Cures” by Dr. Bruce Fife:
Over the past couple of months we have been looking at the rapid decline of health in the U.S. since 1940, especially as it pertains to heart disease, the leading cause of death.
America has fallen from Hippocrates, the father of medicine who said “Let your food be your medicine” and Thomas Edison’s wise words “The doctor of the future will use no medicine but instead will interest his patients in the care of the human frame in diet, cause, and prevention of disease.”
Going back to World War II again, we see this is where polyunsaturated fats started to become popular. According to “Good Calories, Bad Calories” by Gary Taubes, between 1945 and 1976 margarine consumption increased from four to nine pounds per American each year, salad and cooking oils from seven to 18 pounds. During the worst decades of the heart disease epidemic, vegetable fat consumption in the U.S. nearly doubled from 28 to 55 pounds.
We stated previously that by 1950 heart disease had dramatically increased. Public opinion had turned from saturated fats, which were replaced by polyunsaturated fats.
Let’s go back to World War II, from 1941 to 1945. The Japanese military occupied the Philippines and other South Pacific Islands, where bloody battles were being fought. The supply of coconut oil was effectively cut off from the United States.
Today we are going to look at saturated fat and how it became unpopular.
Last week we said consuming wrong fats was one of the main reasons for heart and circulatory disease. As we look at the grocery store shelves, we see bottle after bottle of polyunsaturated oils and salad dressings.
Close to 75 million Americans suffer from heart disease. Many are taking the Band-Aid approach by having bypass surgery or stints put in. Over the years these can close. We need to take responsibility for our lifestyle.
Last week we talked about how cholesterol and saturated fat are still blamed today for obesity, heart disease, strokes, and a myriad of other problems by the medical institutions and encouraged by the companies who package our food.
When it comes to health, probably the most talk¬ed about subject second to all the drugs people are on is the evil of cholesterol and saturated fat in the foods we eat.
Many alternative doctors believe it is not the sun that causes melanoma but rather the toxic chemicals we lather on our skin to keep from burning. The skin is a half-inch thick, and poisons are readily absorbed into the skin and make their way to the liver.
It has been a long winter in Huntley, and many of you can’t wait to get to the “social pool,” lay out in the sun for that gorgeous tan, and bask in the warmth of spring. Others of you will head for the golf and tennis courts or simply work in your yards.
I want to say “hello” to my former class participants who have taken my classes many times as well as to new people who may have been reading my column all winter. While I have had an enjoyable winter in Florida, the trials and temptations that I have experienced have been numerous and have given me greater dependence upon the Lord to guide and direct.
When I left Huntley for my home in Florida last October, I made the decision not to teach my February classes but to have fun with all the people in our Christian R.V. Park going to Bible conferences, enjoying the sun and warm weather, relaxing by the pool, taking trips and socializing, which usually meant eating mostly health-destroyers such as sugar and processed items with little or no nutrition.
Adrenal Gland Exhaustion – It is a known fact that the more refined salt and sugar we eat plays havoc on many glands of our bodies. Using unrefined salt helps with these conditions.
Salt in its natural form is referred to as unrefined salt. Unrefined salt has over 80 minerals and has not been altered by man. Natural salt maintains the normal PH of the body, which should be 7.2 or a neutral state.
