{"id":26,"date":"2024-01-23T00:09:45","date_gmt":"2024-01-23T00:09:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mysundaynews.com\/obituaries\/?p=26"},"modified":"2024-01-23T00:11:35","modified_gmt":"2024-01-23T00:11:35","slug":"carol-evans","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mysundaynews.com\/obituaries\/2024\/01\/23\/carol-evans\/","title":{"rendered":"Carol Evans"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mysundaynews.com\/obituaries\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Carol-Evans-185x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"185\" height=\"300\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-27\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mysundaynews.com\/obituaries\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Carol-Evans-185x300.jpg 185w, https:\/\/mysundaynews.com\/obituaries\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Carol-Evans-631x1024.jpg 631w, https:\/\/mysundaynews.com\/obituaries\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Carol-Evans-947x1536.jpg 947w, https:\/\/mysundaynews.com\/obituaries\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/Carol-Evans.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 185px) 100vw, 185px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Carol Evans, 91, of Algonquin, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 5, 2024, at The Pearl of Crystal Lake.<\/p>\n<p>Carol was a special person who lit up any room she entered.\u00a0She will be remembered for her quick wit, infectious laugh, and her ability to make any person she spoke with feel special.\u00a0She was a good friend who kept in constant touch with her best friends for over 80 years.\u00a0She was talented at sewing and cross stitch.\u00a0She enjoyed playing bridge and doing puzzles.\u00a0She was an avid Ohio State fan, and you could find her most weekends cheering for her football team.\u00a0She hated cooking, but loved to bake cookies with her grandchildren, though they would often eat a lot of the batter before any cookies were made.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Carol was born on December 23, 1932, in Bainbridge, Ohio to Mary and James Smalley, and grew up in Columbus, Ohio.\u00a0She married her high school sweetheart, Norman Evans, on December 28, 1952.\u00a0Together, they had three wonderful children and moved across the country many times over for Norm\u2019s work.\u00a0Carol worked in administration of a school district in Houston where she helped employees understand the benefits provided.\u00a0When she retired, she and Norm moved to Sun City in Huntley, Illinois to be closer to their youngest child, Megan, and her family.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>She is survived by her son, Brad (Diane Donley) Evans, daughter, Joyce (Wouter) Blom, and daughter, Megan (Tim) Barry.\u00a0She leaves behind seven grandchildren, Weston Blom, Lillian (Jason Carnevale) Evans, Robert Evans, Timothy Barry, Colleen Barry, Bridget Barry and Cara Barry.\u00a0She also left two special great grandchildren, June and Miles Carnevale.<\/p>\n<p>A Celebration of Life service will be held\u00a0on Saturday, February 17,\u00a0at First Church of Crystal Lake.
